Benny Aboud was born to build things: Successful businesses, profitable partnerships, game-changing technology. Now, he’s building the way tomorrow’s consumers will search for, compare and buy residential services.
A life-long entrepreneur, Aboud’s latest endeavor is Saveology.com®. This leading comparison shopping portal enables consumers to comparison shop and buy home services including cable, satellite television, Internet, phone service, home security and warranties, moving services, technical support and various financial and insurance products.
“This is a game-changer,” says Aboud, president and founding member of Elephant Group, Inc., where 500 people in two state-of-the-art facilities in Florida and New Jersey handle 350,000 calls and sell more than 70,000 products and services each month. With projected gross sales well over $100 million for 2010, future projections call for sales to triple within four years.
The company’s success comes from being first to market as a one-stop destination for fast, unbiased comparisons and the best values on the most common home services. At its foundation, the concept promises choice and convenience. Consumers can purchase services directly from Saveology.com, from one of 18 product specific Websites like BuyVerizon.com and BuyComcast.com, or via major retailers like Radio Shack that have the Saveology.com home services decision engine – or “Saveology Engine” – on their Websites. In all, millions of Americans visit these sites each month.
Early on, Aboud locked in partnerships with the country’s largest phone, cable and satellite, and home security companies. Those deals allow Saveology.com to offer access to services at prices available nowhere else.
Today, Saveology.com’s pioneering concept is changing the way people shop for and buy residential services. Until several years ago, people booked travel and bought music in retail stores. “If you told Sam Goody in 2003 no one would be shopping at their retail stores, but would shift to on-line purchasing within six years, they would have laughed,” he says.
Saveology.com is Aboud’s latest enterprise. He opened his first business – a wireless phone store – while still in college in New Jersey. In 2002, he sold his 120 locations from Connecticut to Florida to Cingular Wireless. His next business grew to become Echostar’s (now DISH Network) largest seller of satellite television. The company topped sales of over 300,000 new customers by 2006 before diversifying beyond satellite TV and into the Multi-Service Operators (cable), telephone companies and home security businesses under the Homes.org brand (the company was rebranded as Saveology.com® in 2008).
Saveology.com’s parent company, Elephant Group, Inc. debuted at No. 1,491 on the 2007 Inc. 5000 list, and has remained a fixture on the list ever since. The company was No. 31 among all companies of Southeast Florida in the Advertising & Marketing category, and in 2009, Benny Aboud was named one of the region’s Top CEOs by the South Florida Business Journal.
Aboud and Saveology.com also are active philanthropists. He and Saveology.com support the Chris Evert Children's Hospital at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, and Aboud is a committee member of an annual Cystic Fibrosis Charity event. Aboud enjoys sporting events – Saveology.com is a Pillar Sponsor of the Florida Panthers NHL franchise – playing tennis, and spending time with his family. |
